On the inside- St. Paul Church

The stained glass windows are a defining feature of this church- they're absolutely fantastic! I had to experiment a lot with aperture for this shot because of the contrast between the almost ivory of the walls and the light coming through the windows. To limit the light coming through the glass I made sure my aperture was high enough to get a clear image without the walls being completely black. I then proceeded to change my shutter speed so that I could still get the clear image of the glass, but make sure the colors came out more from the glass and so the ivory walls would stay lighter.

I took this shot to capture the symmetry of the church. The old organ sits in the center and the pews and columns come down on either side. Because of my location, the columns appear to be set out width wise, while they are in fact set in a front line coming towards me, the photographer.

Again, these shots show the pure beauty of the church and give it a somewhat abstract appearance.

These next 3 shots are my absolute favorites from the day.

On the Outside- St. Paul Church

Before my family moved parishes in 2006, we attended St. Paul. I think it's one of the prettiest churches in all of Lexington. On Presidents day I went to shoot it. The sky was a nice blue and the red of the brick complimented it. I think the angles and sharp contrast in these images is actually really nice.

The day I finally figured it out

DAY 1 of the NEW CAMERA: Cannon Rebel T3i

I didn't really know how to use the aperture on this camera yet. I wasn't familiar with the buttons because I had switched from a Sony. These pitcures were all taken while I changed the iso and shutter speed trying to find the right amount of light. I'm planning on returning this weekend to shoot once again at Ashland

Snow Day

Seems kind of mystical, don't you agree? I love the fact that a good camera can give you the same photo as a lot of editing can. Low aperture for the win!

Dog footprints in the snow are one of my favorite things! I had to use a high aperture value because the snow was too bright to allow anything else.

Risked attack of the birds

These two are the best shots from my trip around the cemetary the other day. The focus is perfect!

These geese below chased me around awhile so I decided I would snap some shots of them while I could.

These are both instances of having my aperture value too low.
